In this entry, those members of the Reading Club who want to read in English will find some useful links.

First, those of you who chose Steinbeck can read some interesting facts about his biography in the next link. You'll also find the file with The Pearl in the original English version. It isn't an adapted text, but it is easy enough for you to try and enjoy it.

This entry is especially interesting for 2 bto. In the first link you'll have access to a website from the British Council. It explains how to use the infinitive or the gerund (or both) after certain verbs. Apart from studying the content of the link, we encourage you to have a look at the whole site. It's really useful and great fun!

Infinitive or gerund?

The second link leads you to two lists of expressions where DO or MAKE appear. Likewise, we invite you to explore this website. It's full of resources for you!

We have started our Reading Club this year with three stories by Edgar Allan Poe. If you fancy reading them in English, the links below will lead you to the original texts. They are not easy to understand because Poe uses a very elaborate language and his style is full of metaphors and long sentences. It can be a good idea to read them in Spanish first and then approach the original version from that background.

But, anyway, we encourage you to have a go! Try if you feel like a dive into 19th-century American English...
